Abstract: Designing logic circuits using complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technology at the nano scale has been faced with various challenges recently. Undesirable leakage currents, the short-effect channel, and high energy dissipation are some of the concerns. represent an appropriate alternative for possible CMOS replacement in the future because it consumes an insignificant amount of energy compared to the standard CMOS. The key point of designing arithmetic circuits is based on the structure of a 1-bit . A low-complexity block is beneficial for developing various intricate structures. This paper represents scalable 1-bit QCA structures based on cell interaction. Our proposed s encompass preference aspects of QCA design, such as a low number of cells used, low latency, and small area occupation. Also, the proposed structures have been expanded to larger circuits, including a 4-bit , a 4-bit ripple borrow subtractor (RBS), an , and a 2-bit array . All designs were simulated and verified using QCA Designer-E version 2.2. This tool can estimate the energy dissipation as well as evaluate the performance of the circuits. Simulation results showed that the proposed designs are efficient in complexity, area, latency, cost, and energy dissipation.

Cracking resistance performance of super vertical-distance pumped SFRC

JIANG Jinyang, SUN Wei, ZHANG Yunsheng, CHEN Cuicui, WANG Jing

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2008, Volume 2, Issue 2,   Pages 179-183 doi: 10.1007/s11709-008-0018-6

Abstract: The mix ratio of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) was optimized using the principles that workability must meet the pumping demand and anti-cracking performance should be optimal. The effect of SFRC on the initial cracking load, the ultimate load and the crack width of the reinforced concrete (RC) member were analyzed in this paper. It was found that the admixture had good preservation of moisture and adhesion and the fibers distributed homogeneously in one hour out of the machine. According to the pumping results, the SFRC could be pumped vertically up to 306 m. Based on the standard computation formula of cracks, the maximum crack width of an RC member with 0.8% steel fiber (by volume) is about 32% lower than that of standard RC member. Through an experimental research on full-scale model tests for the steel and concrete composite anchorage zone on a pylon, the SFRC not only remarkably increases the crack resistance and the ultimate load, but the initial load also improves 33% approximately. It is also indicated that plastic shrinkage cracking of SFRC in which volume fraction of steel fibers is 0.8% can be restrained obviously and the unrestrained drying shrinkage can be diminished by about 50% at early age. The results confirmed that the SFRC can lessen the shrinkage crack of concrete and enhance markedly the direct tensile strength. Therefore, the SFRC can solve the key question of crack resistance for the anchorage zone of a bridge tower.

Abstract: New technologies such as have been showing some remarkable characteristics that standard complementary-metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) in deep sub-micron cannot afford. Modeling systems and designing multiple-valued logic gates with QCA have advantages that facilitate the design of complicated logic circuits. In this paper, we propose a novel creative concept for . The concept has been set in , the new simulator developed by our team exclusively for QCAs’ quaternary mode. Proposed basic gates such as MIN, MAX, and different types of inverters (SQI, PQI, NQI, and IQI) have been designed and verified by . This study will exemplify how fast and accurately works by its handy set of CAD tools. A 1×4 decoder is presented using our proposed main gates. Preference points such as the minimum delay, area, and complexity have been achieved in this work. QQCA main logic gates are compared with based on carbon nanotube field-effect transistor (CNFET). The results show that the proposed design is more efficient in terms of latency and energy consumption.

Spin polarization strategy to deploy proton resource over atomic-level metal sites for highly selective CO electrolysis

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2022, Volume 16, Issue 12,   Pages 1772-1781 doi: 10.1007/s11705-022-2197-4

Abstract: Unlocking of the extremely inert C=O bond during electrochemical CO2 reduction demands subtle regulation on a key “resource”, protons, necessary for intermediate conversion but also readily trapped in water splitting, which is still challenging for developing efficient single-atom catalysts limited by their structural simplicity usually incompetent to handle this task. Incorporation of extra functional units should be viable. Herein, a proton deployment strategy is demonstrated via “atomic and nanostructured iron (A/N-Fe) pairs”, comprising atomically dispersed iron active centers spin-polarized by nanostructured iron carbide ferromagnets, to boost the critical protonation steps. The as-designed catalyst displays a broad window (300 mV) for CO selectivity > 90% (98% maximum), even outperforming numerous cutting-edge M–N–C systems. The well-placed control of proton dynamics by A/N-Fe can promote *COOH/*CO formation and simultaneously suppress H2 evolution, benefiting from the magnetic-proximity-induced exchange splitting (spin polarization) that properly adjusts energy levels of the Fe sites’ d-shells, and further those of the adsorbed intermediates’ antibonding molecular orbitals.
